Twelve Months Old - Hadley Blair

I know...finally!  Hadley turned 1 year old on Sunday, October 12, 2014.  (How can it be that she is now 15 months old?!)  The time has only sped up with 2 kids in the mix.  Hadley is certainly coming into her own with a sassy little attitude.  She definitely has spunk (as her sitter so nicely put it).
(All outdoor photos courtesy of Britni T. Johnson Photography.)
Hadley's Happenings:
  • Completely transitioned from bottle to cup (sippy or with a straw).
  • Stands unassisted; refuses to walk without holding someone's hand.
  • Gives hugs and kisses.
  • First word: Mama!!!! Then, added 'more'.
  • Imitating actions.
  • Throwing balls.
  • Loves to giggle!
  • Always has her feet crossed (while eating, sitting, sleeping). It's so sweet!

Hadley Blair,
Oh man, I love you!  You certainly have a personality similar to mine (which means your are a little lot hard headed, but you know exactly what you want). :)  You are so sweet and loving, or you are super vocal; not much middle ground with you.  I love that you are learning to 'talk.' It's so cute when you babble away about something serious (even if I cannot understand a word you are saying).  You are very much a fan of your brother.  I love how the two of you make each other laugh and smile.  You love to eat; not necessarily everything, but you like to eat a lot of the foods you like.  You are much better at self-entertaining than Harrison, which has been nice when I need to get a few things done around the house.  You are also a great sleeper.  You rarely wake up at night and you go to sleep with no fuss.  It has been so neat to see you grow, learn, and develop over this past year.  Mommy and Daddy are truly blessed to have such healthy, happy children.  I love you so much, precious girl!!
Love,
Mommy

Hadley Blair -
We are excited to celebrate your upcoming 1st birthday (though I truly cannot believe we are already to this point)!  You are really an easy going baby, though you definitely know how to throw a fit, and do not want to be consoled when you are having a meltdown.  It's fun to see how much more interactive you are than even the month before.  I thought you would take off and walk because you have been so steady using your walker, but you do not want to fall.  I think you are going to wait until you are 100% confident you can walk without falling.  You are a great eater (this was quite the source of stress for me with your older brother).  You adapt well to changes and spent only a brief time in the stranger anxiety phase.  Daddy, Harrison, and I love you so much!  You are such a blessing to our family.
I love you, sweet girl!

You sure are sweet and sassy all at the same time.  You absolutely adore your brother.  You love to give him hugs and be hugged by him.  You are crawling every where and pulling up on everything!  Unfortunately, you are still putting everything in your mouth.  Please only eat the food we give you!  You are content to play and explore your environment on your own, but if you spot Mommy, you want some attention.  Also, the stranger anxiety phase has ensued, which is no fun when I need to leave you in the nursery at church.  You are a great eater and sleeper.  You love bath time and get mad when I take you out of the bathtub.  I can't believe you're 2 months away from being ONE!  I love you, precious baby girl!  Keep growing strong!

3 years - Harrison

Hard to believe I have a 3 year old little boy.  He is definitely not a baby any more!  Steven and I are constantly amazed at Harrison's intelligence.  The things that come out of his mouth...wow...I had no idea he was absorbing so much information!
Statistics:
Weights: at birth - 7 lb 12 oz
12 months - 21 lb 2 oz (25th percentile)
24 months - 24 lb (8th percentile)
2 1/2 yrs - 25 lb
3 years - 28 lb 3 oz (15th percentile)
Lengths: at birth - 20 1/4 in
12 months - 28 1/2 in (10th percentile)
24 months - 34 in (30th percentile)
2 1/2 yrs - 34 in (inaccurate measurement due to Harrison flailing in fear that he was getting shots)
3 years - 34 in
Harrison's Happenings:
  • Learned how to use the potty.
  • Visited the dentist.
  • Counts to 13, needs a little help to 20, then counts to ~29.
  • Transitioned to a full size bed and an official "big boy room."
  • Now asking the question, "Why?"
  • You first learned how to write the letter H and make H's with objects (like toy blocks).
  • Favorite word pronunciations:
    • concorn = popcorn
    • swamwich = sandwich
    • faborite = favorite (subs v's with b's)
    • slip, slash, sloor = flip, flash, floor (subs s's for f's)
  • Favorite stories:
    • When asked if you needed to go potty (for the umpteenth time that day), you responded in a sassy tone, "I okay, Dada!"
    • Threw a fit because (and I quote) "I wanna wipe yo butt" after I went potty.
    • You told me to "aim your tee tee down" when I went potty.
    • After having no accidents for several weeks, you had 8 accidents in 2 days, so I made you go potty every 30 minutes the following day.  After several trips to the bathroom, you didn't want to go anymore so you told me, "I want Daddy 'cause you yucky."
    • You told me, "Don't worry about me," when I asked you what was wrong one morning when you were crying and in a bad mood.
    • You were racing Daddy and when you would win, you would ask me for your prize, which was a hug and kiss from Mommy. :)
  • Favorite quotes:
    • "That 'bideo' was crazy silly."
    • First unscripted prayer, "Thank you for orange juice. Thank you for my food. Thank you for my shows. Amen."
    • "You're my best friend [Mama]."
    • "I think it sounds like I need to go potty."

Harrison - My firstborn.  Three years!?  It has been so much fun watching you learn and grow.  You are a sportsaholic!!  Right now, you favor "soccer ball."  You have been throwing the ball just about as long as you have been able to pick up a ball.  You also love to dance and listen to music.  Your newest favorite music is instrumental; you request that I turn on "[your] instruments" when we are driving.  You are a pretty quick learner.  We have been working on recognizing letters and numbers, writing letters, and we are working on assigning letter sounds.  You insisted on using scissors, and you actually did very well with them.  I can give you a piece of paper and a pair of scissors, and you are entertained for a good 15 minutes.  You still love to read books.  Luckily Daddy likes to wrestle because you love to wrestle and rough house!  You are all about doing everything yourself.  And you are pretty competent to do lots of tasks without our help (getting undressed, going potty, brushing your teeth, getting yourself water).  You are really enjoying Hadley being more interactive.  You make her laugh all the time.  It's so cute to watch the two of you acting silly together. You are a great big brother!  It's been fun getting to have real conversations with you now that you can recall past events and things we have been doing during the week.  I especially love your expressive blue eyes when you are telling me something you are excited about.  You have grown so much over this past year.  You definitely lost all of your "baby" qualities and are officially a big boy.  I love you so much, Harrison.
Love,
Mommy

Hadley Blair - I love you so much!  I love to hear you talking these days.  You are able to make several consonant sounds, and you are able to make high pitched and low pitched sounds with your voice.  You can scream...loud!  You are very busy exploring every where.  You are taking advantage of your ability to crawl and move to where ever you want to go.  You are a very good eater.  But, like I mentioned above, you know we are about to pry your mouth open to get out whatever it is you found on the floor/ground, yet, you continue to put everything in your mouth!  You and Harrison are so cute, and sweet  to each other (most of the time).  Keep growing strong!  I love you precious princess.

Hadley Blair,
I love you so much!  You are a very easy-going baby. Thank you!  You are learning and getting around so well.  Your eyesight is impeccable!  Apparently I need to clean all of our floors multiple times a day because you can hone in on the tiniest little crumb and try to pick it up and put it in your mouth.  You are keeping me on my toes!  You still love Harrison, and you think he is too funny.  It's so cute to watch you laugh at him and him try to make you laugh.  You are so good at trying new foods (even if you don't like everything).  You also have a great bedtime routine (and most of the time you sleep through the night).  I think teething and a cold messed up your sleeping through the night, but it seems like that has been remedied.  You are very content to play with your toys and crawl around or pull up on furniture.  I cannot believe how fast time has passed.  (Slow down!!)  Stay sweet, little one.  You are truly a blessing to our family.  I love you!
Love,
Mommy

Seven Months Old - Hadley Blair

Seven months old... 1 year is quickly approaching.  We have a social, inquisitive child!  She is quick with her hands.  Anything new within her reach is in her hands in about 0.2 seconds!  Hadley has learned to pivot on her bottom and uses this skill to explore her surroundings!
Hadley's Happenings:
  • At the end of April, you stopped sucking your thumb (every now and then I'll notice you sucking your thumb while you are sleeping).
  • You got a tooth! (bottom left center tooth)
  • Rolled from back to belly.
  • Can move from sitting to laying on belly with ease...looks like the beginning of crawling...just need to coordinate your knees.
  • Sleeping through the night (2 nights of crying it out...luckily not for too long...and you did it!).
  • Moved up to size 3 diapers.
  • Still wearing 3-6 mon, 6 mon, and a few 9 mon pieces of clothing.
Statistics:

4 months - 24 5/8 in (88th percentile)
6 months - 26 in (50th percentile)
Hadley Blair - You are so much fun!  You are so funny when you are watching Harrison dart around the house.  You try to keep up with him by jerking yourself from side to side as he moves.  You are soooo busy! Right now, you are trying your hardest to get past me to get to the computer!  You aren't even still when you eat.  You have to be bouncing or flailing your arms around.  If you could tuck your knees under you, you would be off.  I don't think it will be long before you figure out how to get from point A to B, whether by crawling, scooting, or rolling.  I have been introducing new foods, and like your brother, you aren't thinking they are too great. We're going to just keep trying though. After a month or so of some not great sleeping.  I moved you to your bed and only gave you the pacifier.  You have done so well.  If you wake up, it's around 11:40 pm, and after giving you the pacifier, you go right back to sleep until 7 am. Your hair has really started growing; not enough for a bow, but more than before.  I love how much more social and interactive you are these days.  When you are happy or excited, you show it with your whole body.  I love you so much, sweet girl!
Love, Mommy
